Multi-tasking. (interfacelift.com)

Well, I can finally say that I'm down to very few assignments/reports to do. A lot has been done over the past week, and I'm really glad that things are moving along well. Just the FYP to worry about, because our group seems to have taken a not too chort hiatus from the plot, and it seems that that area needs a bit more work to look beautiful once again. Hahaha, ah man, what can I say, it was a good time at that plot, and we would be looking at it for a fre more weeks before leaving on our attachment. Speaking of which, tomorrow, ALL of us will find out where we will posted to for out attachment. I know I'll be going to Nparks, but no idea whatsoever as to which part specifically. So we'll just have to wait and see tomorrow.

And is it me again, or is the weather getting warmer and warmer by the day? Hmmmm.....*goes to shower for the 4th time today*

WOOOOO!!! It's finally the weekends, and I can finally wake up later on Saturday, excellent!! Hahahaha, so what happened over the past few days? Well, I dare say they were the best 2 days of this whole month, and of course, a good escape from school as well. =) So what am I talking about? the Singapore Garden Festival(SGF) of course.

Wednesday
All of us were on 2 different shifts, mine was supposedly from 2-5pm, but I graciously swapped with Mark because he had a tennis match to play in the evening, so in the end, mine was from 5-8pm. It was the first time I helped out in the set-up of the SGF. The last time(2 years ago), we just sat down at the booth and attended anybody who was interested in our course. This time, we really helped out, in the Orchid Show to be exact. Well, we were floaters to begin with, and went where help was needed, then slowly after about 30mins, we were all settled into our more or less permanent roles for that day. I was basically the runner for the Orchids, and went about transporting the Orchids from one place to another. Initially, I was as lost as a blind rat, because the place was HUGE! And somehow, the sequence of the displays were not in order, so I had to sort of roughly memorise the stations. This was when majority of the Orchids came in, and we were all flooded with work, all scrambling around like busy bees. Hahahaha, Iqbal, Nisa, MJ and myself missed dinner because we were too caught up with our work, but oh well, the experience was more enticing compared to the food. There was a little hiccup towards the end, and we ended up staying around till 9.30pm, so we all dispersed quite late.

Just in that day itself, I met a lot of new people, and to be honest, I really miss helping out. I know it might sound cliche, but something of this magnitude is actually not easy to organise, and just by simply helping out, it really eases the burden of the main organisers. Another good point is that I can meet new people, and I love to meet those who are not Singaporeans, and really get to know more about their motherland and cultures and so on. It was a really great day for me, and it was just the prelude to what was to come the next day.

Thursday
Had to wake up bright and early to reach Suntec by 7am, and Daniel and I were supposed to meet to get a taxi ride over, but my mum graciously volunteered to fetch us, really thank God for this mum of mine. Hahahaha, so anyways, reached there early and just waited for the real action to begin: judging!! I was grouped with Loy, Melissa and our resident monk, Ching Hong. We were called 'Stewards', and we were entrusted the task of assisting the main judges to pick out the winning Orchids of their respective classes. And it was a real eye-opener for me, because the judges were all from around the world, and they really knew their stuff. They were spewing words which I can't even pronounce, let alone memorise them, and they were chatting away as though over afternoon tea. Hahahaha, it was really mind boggling for me to see how well-versed all of them were, and even the locals, who were from OSSEA, also knew their stuff pretty well. I really give these people respect, because they have such a strong passion for orchids, and their lives probably revolve around these beautiful plants. In my opinion, ALL the orchids deserved to be a winning entry, but in a contest, there has to be those who will stand out from all the rest, and this was no exception. We took about 3 hours just going through all the procedures and judging, and the winners were finally announced, and of course, that meant that we could all go home. Muahahahaha, but these 2 days were really an extremely good exprience for me, and I met a lot of nice people along the way. I guess this whole experience is one which I will keep in my heart for a long time to come, and it is a unique event for such a unique country, wouldn't you say?

PS: Happy 20th Birthday Chan Nurul Nisa!!!!! Hugs and kisses from your year 1 scandal!!!! XD Enjoy yourself over this weekend, and really let your hair down!! =)

As of now, everybody in my course would most probably be studying and revising for tomorrow's big and final test for LPM, and here I am, happily blogging about it, hahahahaha!! So anyways, just wanted to do a quick post here.

Congratulations Dickson Teo on being accepted into DigiPen!!!! WOoooohoooo!!! Well, DigiPen is an American institute of graphic and game design, and they just set up shop here in Singapore, and Dickson got into the batch enrolling in 2009, how cool is that!?!? So anyways, his very first assignment, which is 1 year early to be exact, involves drawing 800 sketches!!! 800!!! WOW!!! But he says it's nothing if you want to enter this industry. X.X So anyway, all the best for his future endeavours!

Next would be for Calvin, who was posted to SISPEC for training to become a Physical Training Instructor(PTI), hahaha, that would be the PE teacher to you and me. We were just joking around, and he said that if I were to be under him for PT sessions, he would not punish me at all, hahahaha, then I said that everyone else will beat me up in the middle of the night in the end of the day. But congrats nonetheless, and I hope to see him as a Officer if possible.

Finally would be my close friend ZHC!! Why? Because today is his birthday!!! Woooo!!!
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to ZHC, happy birthday to youuu!! 19 years as well, as old as me already, hahahaha, one more year closer to maturity. All the best for your studies and FYP, and relationship (if applicable =P), hahahahaha, Happy Birthday once again, and enjoy yourself this week!!! =D

Well, I guess I should get back to revising, and by the way, I'm blogging now while sitting on my weeds, hahahaha!! I guess I'm he best weight to press those buggers down.
Toodles and good night!!

DURIAN DURIAN

Well, the weekends are almost over again, and not a totally eventful one I must say. Firstly, finally took the time to restore all the files and documents in my desktop, after its third reformat. Ah well, what can I say, the internet can be such a bugger these days, flinging viruses at us like nobody's business, hahaha.
Also got a few more little assignments done and completed, so no more worrying over them. Now it's just the always-dreaded LD project, and the little weeds project, which by the way, is no way little at all, and I must really thank MJ for doing the pressing for us all, thanks loads man.

Of course, since it's the durian season (which I had no idea until yesterday), I freely consumed a few durians myself. Had a informal Officers gathering yesterday to feast over durians, and today we had a meeting, and after that, we finished the remainder of the durains left over from yesterday, hahahahaha, wooo!!! It's been about 2 years since I had durian right out of the husks, and it was an all-too familiar melting taste in my mouth. Surprisingly, all the durians I ate were all sweet, no bitter ones, which is actually a first for me, because when I was way younger, at least 1-2 durians would stand out from the crowd, and spoil our tastebuds with a sour and bitter taste, ah well, I'm contented as it is, so I'm not complaining at all. =)
My stomache is really satisfied and I guess it'll be the start of the week ahead soon, so more work to be done, and more nights with less than 8 hours of sleep, lol.

Aights, FYP once again today. Actually in my opinion, quite a good day for our FYP. Well, it's mainly because of our pathway design, hahaha, wooohooo!!! Mr Saiful really likes our design, and of course, I'm the one who came up with the idea, but hey, it really a team effort, and kudos to those who came. The whole plot is not totally done yet, but it's really getting there.

A few of us were eating lunch, and Mr Saiful showed us the previous batch's work, and there is a real difference between theirs and ours now. Hahahaha, oh man, that compliment from everyone just simply made my day, and I guess it was a risk worth taking. Now, a white stretch of land cuts across the green, and it really looks nice, and of course, it turns heads every single time. Finally, they are turning their heads for good reasons instead of bad ones. Now we just have to wait for a few more new plants, and the only thing left is the report, which I'm supposed to compile again, hahahaha, ah well, guess I'm the man for the job!!

Alright, tomorrow will be a really long day, so I'm going to touch my strings after such a long time to de-stress, and study for the dreaded weekly quiz, ah well, see you all!!! =D

PS: My mum has been influenced by yours truly, and she's playing mahjong now, muahahah... =P

Saturday, July 12, 2008

Well, it's finally the weekends, well, half of it anyways. Saturday is already gone, and hoestly, time flew by like nobody's business. Of course, not a lot happened over the week, but today was a bit out of the ordinary.
Firstly went to school bright and early in the morning to water the plants in our plot. Well, it's not that I had nothing to do, but also because I was going to have Effective Negotiation(EN) meeting later in the morning, so might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone right? Hahaha, of course, a very silent watering session, but it was all good, used to it anyways.
So next went over to the library to rehearse for out EN role-play this coming Monday, and as expected, Zhen Wei came late, 1 hour late to be exact. Hahaha, oh well, at least we were able to squeeze 3 rehearsals before we all left school. The props were all finally done up, and we all just need to memorise our scripts and dress the part, and of course, enjoy ourselves. Hahaha, and being the camera-loving guy, we all took a lot of group shots with our props, we were missing the cactus and aloe vera cardboard cut-outs here:

All acting cool, except Ching Hong, blocked by his own dear cat. Hahaha....

All acting cute!! Muahahahaha, second nature already. =P
Anyways, really glad I have this group for EN, a mix of hardworking ones, and of course crazy ones. Hahahaha, really blessed.

Just finished my LPM report as well, and I didn't expect it to be so enjoyable. We have to come up with 3 places in our campus to introduce new students to our course, and we are acting as guides, so we have to type out our script. It's actually fun because I could really imagine the whole thing going down in real life, and the people all following me around. Hahahaha, really really interesting.

Alright, so now I'm logging off to go turn in, so good night people!!

...Rays...

Ah, I miss those visits to Botanic Gardens so much. Those days were so much more relaxed and so much more fun, the pace was so much slower, of course lesser projects, and finally, lesser things to juggle at any one time. Ah well, guess this is the prelude to working adult life.

Finally one less presentation to worry about. Honestly, I wasn't really looking forward to our WISP presentation on Sudan, mainly because I don't really know what it's all about. But I guess that's why this module is here, to open our eyes to the world and the things which we do not see happening. Just by doing our research on Sudan, this country is already very distrought, and we Singaporeans should be extremely blessed to live in such a peaceful country. The people in Sudan are not exactly living in serene conditions, and sadly, we do not really do anything about it. Oh man.....

With that being said, I'm really glad that my group pulled through. Firstly, we didn't know each other in the first place, and secondly, we all didn't know how each person worked, so those were a few barriers. However, after 2 whole presentations, I can safely say that I'm glad to be in the group that I'm in:

Wen Ping: Simply hardworking and really does more than I ask her to.
Soo Hoon: Responds readily and spontaneously, simply great.
Yi Ting: All her research consisted of comics, and it was these which brought the presentation to life.
Kenard: A new guy to me, but he researched things which I wouldn't normally think of, very creative.

Well, our presentation today was quite last minute, but thankfully, we made it through, with this comment from our teacher:

"This is the best and most comprehensive presentation of Sudan I've seen throughout these years" -Ms Georgia, WISP Lecturer

At this compliment, our whole group just lit up, and our morale simply shot through the roof. I know you all think I'm bragging, but I learnt that we should not be humble when we are being praised. =P

Well, what can I say?? Hahahaha, really blessed to meet such good people and good team mates. =D

Oh Yea!!! Yesterday marked the FINAL lesson for WSQ!!!!!! After 7 whole weeks of waking up early, going down to early to do a few cuttings, pruning, planting, and lots more, it's all finally over!! I'm simply glad that we do not have to go through all of that anymore. Sadly, Saturdays will still be occupied with school work and BB, but nonetheless, one less thing to do on a Saturday.
Today was also my BB Company's Enrolment Parade. Well, Daniel, TKC, Reggy, Ros, Cyndy and myself are now offocial officers!! After 7 whole years of being a Boy, we can finally have more privilages. But of course, as we go up the ladder, more responsibilities will come along as well.
Anyways, I don't want to think too much about it, as long as I have these guys to go through thick and thin with me, I'm more than glad to go through it all with them.
Ok, off to cell group all the way at Nisa's area of the island, hahaha, see you guys!

Singapore is really a very small place.
Just found out that Ching Hong's brother's girlfriend is actually Ros's sister!!
Today, found out that Ina's primary and secondary school friend is actually Rino's close friend!! Hahaha, what a small world we live in!! =D

Turf Turf

Well, today was half a day out at Kranji, and one of the golf courses for our Turf Management fieldtrip. It was a really good experience for me because it's my first time in a golf course, and we had a good insight into the works behind the maintenance of the golf course.
Some fo us had to take a bus to the place, it was quite a short ride and the roads were extremely smooth on the way there.
When we got there, settled down for a while and headed out to see the maintenance machines parading out for us one at a time, just like an exibition. Hahaha, some were really cool, and you'd be surprised at how the simplest-looking machine is the cutest and most fun to watch.
Next we all had to get down and dirty in the sun planting turf grass, and it's not as easy as it looks. Simple grass is so not easy to plant, and only through experience can you get a good result.
But of course, the unanimous vote for the most fun portion of the whole thing was the buggy ride around the golf course. Hahaha, it was really really nice and simply fun. Wen Wei was the driver for mark and myself, and mark was holding on for dear life because WW kept jerking the gas, LOL.
Well, it was a good day, and very funny, so now it's back to drawing and more drawing.

Nis just laughing her butt off before we set off from school.

Do the shoes belong to a guy or girl?

Ina, Nisa and Iqbal.

Mark, Ming Jie, Elfie and Ben.

Of course, no fieldtrip would be complete without a group picture, hahaha, nice colour as well!!

PS: I have 1 week to play around with my mum's phone, yayness!!
