Last paper finally over! Man! It's really been a long and exhausting period for everyone: all mugging and stressing their brains to memorise a lot of information at one go. Well, finally that period is over, and we can all relax and chill out. Hahahaha, I'm so glad the exams are over, and the end of Year 2 has also arrived. It's really fast how time flew by just like that, now the only thing standing between Year 3 and now, is a short holiday period.
I don't think I'll have a lot of fun this holidays, because there're a lot of camps to plan and more stressing and arguing over issues, oh well.

Anyways I'll be away from this little island for 1 week, to Korea! Muahahaha, snow snow snow!
So don't call me, will be a huge waste of money, so don't visit this space for the whole week as well, nothing will be updated, hahahaha.
So hope to see all you people soon! Enjoy the holidays and enjoy as much as you can!

These few days, I keep thinking about you.
I don't know how to put it into words, but you're always on my mind.
On the bus, in the MRT, you keep popping into my head and knock me out of my daydreams.
Sometimes I get stressed thinking about it, and it distracts me.
These few days have been tough, I have to keep thinking about you no matter what.
Sometimes, I try to figure you out, but it's not that easy.
One day, I can figure you out, but sometimes you just elude me just as easily.
One moment, I think that I have finally figured it, but then again, it was not the case.
Somehow, ever since the start of the semester, you weren't on my mind, but recently, my thoughts are just filled with you.
My stress level is much higher compared to the past semesters and it's not really good.
You are really complicated, and I find it tiring and exhausting to understand even the simplest of things.
I ask the people around me, but they too don't understand what is going on.
I try to focus on you, but the company around will sooner or later distract me from concentrating.
I will have to face you very soon once again, and I don't really know how I will react.
All I know is that I will have to pluck up the courage and face you and settle things.

Plant Breeding & Genetics.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! I know some of you might be thinking what I'm talking about. Is Jonny talking about a girl? Who is this mysterious person? How come he didn't tell us about this person? LOL..... I just thought about this on the way home, and thought of this way of presenting the thoughts on everybody's minds: "PBG is really difficult and hard to understand!"
It may be so, but just ask around friends, they will help you out one way or another. Don't give up and tell yourself you cannot do it, its almost the end of the exams, just one last paper to overcome! Lets finish this together and see each other next semester HLM-ers!! =D
But honestly, it's a very different way of expressing something right? Hahahaha, creativity at it's finest, hahahha.

New found respect for tissues

One more paper down, Arboriculture. It was a really manageable paper, and it didn't take long for me to finish. However, ike any other story, there's a twist, well, apparently, before the exam, my stomach went upside down and twisted left and right, making me feel very uncomfortable. I've experienced this before, so this wasn't new to me, but of all times, it happened then and there, just a few minutes before another exam paper.
The walk to the exam room was also another challenge, because I started to break out into a sweat for no apparent reason, and it was worse then GZ running 2.4km. There was a bad ringing in my ears, and I could hardly speak as well. Hahahaha, my vision was also blurry, like static in the television, all those white lines. Fortunately, when I sat down in the room, everything slowly came back, so I slowly read through the paper, and it was not too bad.
At the 55th minute into the exam, my bowels started to move around rapidly, and it was really intense, honestly, it's the very very 1st time I had to go use a public toilet, and clean my mess with tissue paper. I had no clue how to go about doing it, so I just kept taking and taking paper to clean up the LIQUID mess. Yes, it was liquid, and it looked a bit like green curry, hahahaha.
I know this is embarrassing to say such a thing, but I don't mind bringing this out into the open, well, I WANT to share this moment with everyone, because it's something which is memorable in its own right, so here it is.
So the very first time I had to use a public toilet and clean up with tissue paper is during my Arboriculture exam in Ngee Ann Poly, HLM, Year 2, Semester 2. Hahahahah!

The Swoosh!!

What comes to mind when you talk about running? Basketball? Soccer? Well, I guess a lot of people will come up with the brand: Nike.
It's an extremely popular brand in the world today, and nothing depicts this more than this well-known brand. So why am I writing about thistopic all of a sudden? I have no idea actually, I switched on the TV, scrolled through the programmes, and this Nike documentary caught my eye. It was being aired on CNBC, and after this, I might tune in more often to this channel. Other than that, I just felt like talking about something other than my daily life, and of course, not to let my English get rusty after all the Singlish everyday, hahaha.

So anyway, back to the topic, let's start with the history of the company. This famous brand name started out with 2 guys, who were obsessed with perfection and performance. One was a running athlete, and his partner was his coach. They began their business by selling sneakers out of a van, and after 25 years, it's grown into a worldwide phenomenon. So what does the word Nike mean? Well, it means 'Victory' in Greek, and how it came about is another whole different story. An employee woke up one morning and just blurted out the word "Nike", and so it grew from that. The logo also has an interesting story behind it: Nike sourced out for designers at that time, and they came upon this lady who was in need of money badly, so they paid her $2 an hour to come up with a logo for Nike. It took only 17.5 hours to come up with the bloated tick logo, and only cost the company $35. So what about the famous tag-line:Just Do It? Well, it came from fans of the shoe, and it has kept its essence until now.

The most famous product of Nike is of course the Air Jordan shoe line. Nike first partnered with Michael Jordan before he even joined the NBA, and it was a gamble they were willing to take. And it certainly paid off for them, because the Air Jordan series literally took off just like how Michael Jordan could fly through the air. He has his own signature label on all his products, and it has been 23 years running till now. And Nike is still releasing new versions of Air Jordans, the latest being the Air Jordan 23. He soon flew from not only being a basketball player, but also a spokesperson and icon for Nike. He initially wore Adidas shoes before he got the contract from Nike, and he only started to wear Nike shoes when he was endorsing them. Another famous basketball player who was also approached by Nike to endorse their products, was LeBron James. At that time, he was already a famous basketballer, and due to the fact that he grew up watching Air Jordan commercials, did he decide to partner up with Nike, and also started with his own shoe line.

So of course, like all big companies, there is bound to be competition, and the biggest competitors for Nike is of course Adidas. So these two titans in the sporting industry started to
go all out in advertising their products. Adidas was initially winning the race, but after the Air Jordan series was introduced, Nike just simply shot up to be the fore-runner in the sales race. Nike spent a whole sum of money on advertising, and they have buildings in their campus named after the famous athelets who endorsed their products, like the above-mentioned 2 basketball players, Tracy McGrady and Tiger Woods were also among others who signed contracts with Nike. Nike also had to compete with another major sports-wear company:Reebok.
However, the competition wasn't that intense as compared to Adidas, because Nike only faced competition from RBK in the basketball line, so it wasn't a big threat.

But with such great success in marketing and sales, people were starting to get skeptical about how it was so easy for Nike to get famous in such a short time. So it was discovered that Nike employees were mistreated in the factories. Vietnam was the country which produced majority of the Nike products, and it is the main 'factory country' for Nike. Cheap labour, coupled with a weak government body, made it ideal for Nike to break into the third-world industry. Workers were abused by their bosses, and were all underpaid, and they were even forced to do overtime in the factories. This sparked up a lot of controversy over the big sporting brand, and Nike soon became synonymous with 'sweatshops', meaning that workers were pushed to work to their limits and paid very little. (This little pun can be seen in the movie "Meet the Spartans" as well)

Nike, however was not satisfied with their range of products, so in 2003, they began to break into the skateboarding industry. Initially, they were very unstable, because they met with a lot of resistance from current boarding companies at that time, all accusing Nike of 'monopolizing' everything. They believed that Nike didn't know a single thing about the sport, and tried to barge in with designer shoes, which contributed little to the safety of the boarders. So Nike regrouped, and came up with a new plan, and they eventually came up with a new line of shoes called 'NikeSB', which turned out to be a huge hit among skateboarders. The design of the shoe was modified from the existing Nike Dunk shoe, which was also thriving at that point of time. Nike respected other boarding companies by limiting the NikeSB line only in boardshops, so such shoes could only be found at certain shops.

Like all of you know, Nike has a whole range of designer shoes which are only limited to a few sets worldwide, and opened up a whole new door to collectors of the shoes from Nike. They're more affectionately known as 'Sneaker-Heads', and they can spend at least $1500 a month just to buy Nike shoes. Before a new shoe is released, these crazy fanatics can line up outside Nike shops 5 days before the official release of the shoe. It's just baffling to know what kind of lengths people will go just to be the first to get their hands on something, but I guess that's called passion for something. So spending $1500 on a single pair of shoes alone is nothing to these Sneaker-Heads.

Well, I guess this is the end of this short documentary on Nike. I just want to say that I composed this without being influenced by Nike. I wrote this without being biased, so don't sue or come after me just because you're an anti-Nike person. Hahaha, ok so that's it for this edition, and hope you all had a great time reading as much as I enjoyed writing it. Till next time, good night and farewell.

PS:The wedding music just died down a few minutes ago, and it has been going on non stop for the past 5 hours. Now that's what I call good stamina.

Excellent! The exam period has arived and everybody's feeling the heat and stress, hahaha, well, most of us anyways. I spent the eve of my exam watching 3 movies, HAHAHAHA,guess that was how I spent my Valentine's Day. Well, it's actually surprising that I did such a thing at such a critical time, and somehow I don't feel the urgency of revising for PNM, but fortunately, the paper wasn't too bad actually, and I'm really glad its over. Definitely passable, doing well for that is another whole different story, but oh well.

Somehow whenever you feel like breaking down, just talking and listening to someone really helps. I didn't totally feel like breaking down, but rather overwhelmed, when I went back to helpfor my company's parade just now. A lot of stuff and responsibilities for yours truly, and I just stoned there, and I could hardly respond to anybody. Hahahaha, I know, it's not like me, but I guess its something which goes along the line of:"with great power, comes great responsibilties", minus the 'great power' portion. Hahaha, almost fell apart like Jenga blocks just now, but just talking to Him and finding peace was all I needed. After that, everything in my head just flowed properly and now I'm left with a few stuff to do studying among others.
So now I have to go revise amidst a loud Malay wedding going on directly under my block, hahahahaha oh well, study hard everyone!! It's the final leg of the race, let's finish it together! =)

Well, another day gone by, and one more step closer to the dreaded exams. Hahahaha, I know I should have been revising, but apparently I wasn't, because I was watching this exciting anime called "Oban Star Racers". It's not a pure anime per se, because it was produced in France with Jetix as the main producer of the show. The story line is amazing and is really addictive to watch. In my opinion, it ranks as one of the top animes' on my list, after Shaman King and Bleach. But of course I haven't watched a whole lot of animes' but this is something worth watching. It airs on Kids Central every Saturday 2pm, only on Flux!, hahahahaha.*free advertising for Kids Central)

Oh man, 2 more days of school, which shouldn't be there at all, because its our revision week. Oh well, can't be helped, so just go with it I say,2 more weeks to the end of Year 2, so very fast, hahahaha, alrighty, going off now, good nightz!!

Hahaha, simply had no idea hosting guests at your own home can be so tiring! LOL, my heart goes out to all of you who constantly gets a lot of guests at home.

Anyway went to T3 with Calvin after service, because I have not seen it at all, and no time as well, so fortunately, had time just now, so we went together, and it was very nice, pictures to depict what T3 offers:

Love the plants at the luggage belt in the arrival hall.

This waterfall inside the departure area is really cool and the design is simply fantastic, if only we could have come up with it sooner. =P

Of course, what would Changi Airport be without spectacular greenery, and they delivered nothing less.
Now its back to hitting the books after a long break. =/

After 2 days of eating and munching new year titbits(and adding on the weight as well), its time for a quick breather, well, a very quick breather at that. Busy all the way till Monday, and I have hardly touched my revision for the exams(why put it after Chinese New Year? I have no idea). I have a games session tomorrow with the kids, and I'm half prepared for it, and in the afternoon my mum's cell group will be dropping by my crib, so I guess I'll be home to entertain them, meaning no touching the books, and after cleaning up at night, I'll be too tired to do any revision, and that leaves me Monday to revise. BUT I still have to go out with my mum, maybe get a new camera or just to accompany her for shopping -_-", oh man, honestly, the time I spent out and about is about 10 times more compared to revision time. Hahahaha, oh well, I know I can still do it, and I guess it'll get better eventually.
Anyway, got myself a new toy and it's not what I expected, but its still something, so it doesn't matter that much. Now I'm going off to, so see everyone soon!!
Enjoy the remaining of the holidays as much as you all can!!! T_T

OK!! I should have done this much earlier, but better late than never right? Hahahaha, so FINALLY all projects have been completed, and now the remaining worries fall on the exams. But this entry, similar to the entry exactly 1 year ago, is about my project group! Hahaha, I know, its boring to read, but I must mention it anyways.
Friday was the big presentation for everyone, and it was quite interesting to see all the projects put up by all the other groups, and it was nerving to find out that our lecturer had extremely high expectations for the project. Well, all I can say is that he is really preparing us for the working world when we enter it, because I guess the way it works will be similar, if not exactly the same as how we all worked throughout these few months.
Well, my group was the last of the last to present, and before our turn, we really rushed a critical portion of the presentation which, I admit, was partially my fault, but it worked out for the best anways. Hahahaha, it was a really rushy moment for us all, and like Wen Wei said: "this is one of the few times we really worked together as a team." Hahahaha, and I really agree, all of us chipped in to finish the bubble diagram, and it was actually very well done, and it didn't look like last minute work at all, LOL. The presentation went well, and we were all happy with ourselves, and our lecturer was pleased with it as well, so all the effort finally paid off!
Hmmmm, I know a lot of my friends are angry and pissed with the lecturer, I personally was stressed over how he conducted his lessons as well, but from a different point of view, he was really preparing us for the working world. A project will be given to you, and within a time period, come up with something worthy of your post and talents, and pleasing to the client. Well, for me, I'd rather face this kind of stress now than to face it in the future, because now is the training ground for us all, and might as well make the best use out of it. I believe that everyone in both classes put in a lot of effort and finances into this project, and I hope to see everybody pass this module. And of course, all of us are extremely happy to be done with this project and finally have time to concentrate on the exams after Chinese New Year, T_T.

So anyways, really glad to have worked with you buggers for this whole project, and I wouldn't wish for any other team members. All the way Haga De Neuvos!!! Well done!!! Wooooohoooo!!! Go salesmen!!! =P

Ah yes, our ever sarcastic leader with his constant self-proclaimed holiday one-liners. But in all honesty, this brother is really hardworking and he spent countless nights staying up to smoothen out the rough edges of this project, and the other 3 of us will treat this guy to a meal!! Yummy....

From left: Gao Zheng(Boss), Marky(The whiner), Wen Wei(The crazy Sir), and myself(The nutty one)

Hahaha, candid shot!! Can't call it a good project without a good fun shot together! =)
