Reunions

It's the lunar new year people! Festivities! Food! Pineapple tarts! Hong Baos! Visiting! Mahjong! New clothes! More pineapple tarts!
It is indeed a festive period which many people have anticipated, mainly because it's the longest holiday period in a year and the usual 2-3 days of rest is always warmly welcomed by everyone. The lower limbs will always be tired and sore at the end of each day because after hopping to a bazillion homes and walking all over the island and getting lost along the way without fail, always adds to the extra distance.

I mean apart from all the festivities and merry-making, there is always something to keep in mind during these times: Family. Indeed family is the core structure where we all grow up in and get influenced by. We learn from parents and relatives their habits and ways, and we usually imitate them. Just hanging around with family is something to enjoy regularly, even if it's with the extended family. Talking to everyone and learning a little bit more about them adds to the enjoyment of it all. This year in particular has been meaningful to me because I really realise how special every family member is to me no matter what happened in the past, forgiveness is something to be given and I realize that.

Other than the biological family, our spiritual family and close friends whom you call family are also not to be forgotten. Spending time in each other's presence is something that I enjoy and cherish. I really want to thank God for such people in my life and am grateful for all the wonderful memories that we had, and the many more to come in the future. =)

So among the firecrackers and sound of mahjong tiles being passed around, why not think and reflect about the people in your life and how precious each and everyone of them is to you this festive period? ;)
